Project Overview

CrickTap is a high-performance sports tracking application designed for cricket enthusiasts worldwide. It delivers real-time live score updates, detailed match analytics, player performance trends, and an interactive prediction model where fans forecast match events in real-time.

Client Problem

Existing sports scoring applications suffered from high latency during peak match traffic, lagging up to 30 seconds behind live TV broadcasts, leading to low user retention and high API server overhead.

Our Solution

We engineered a Flutter mobile application featuring real-time WebSockets integration, a custom Redis cache backend for instant score delivery, and optimized push notification campaigns.

Phase 01

Research & Wireframes

Conducted surveys with over 200 cricket enthusiasts to optimize layout priority, highlighting that real-time run-rate, boundaries tracker, and quick chat access are the most-wanted features. Created structured layouts mapping dynamic scoreboard panels, tabbed match summaries, and visual player comparison charts.

Phase 02

Figma Prototyping

Developed high-fidelity prototypes in Figma to map low-latency match transitions and micro-interaction animations.

Phase 03

Development & Deploy

Compiled native clients using Flutter (MVVM architecture), integrated with a Node.js WebSocket engine for streaming updates, and configured Firestore for group messaging. Conducted stress testing to ensure the socket server handles up to 10k concurrent users per match without latency degradation. Managed successful releases to Apple App Store and Google Play Console, setting up automatic builds via codemagic.
